Our "Haunted House", was outdoors, unprotected and was rather an organized bit of themed mess, but it was fun and we, especially me (Tanya) was bit by the bug. The creativity and fun, despite prevailing North winds and some sleety snow. Our driveway faces North, so you can imagine the challenges. Set up took almost two weeks especially fighting the elements.
Covid measures were still in place, but people were figuring out physical distancing and happy to have a little slice of Halloween fun. We were open for two days, saw about 340 people and raised some cash and food donation to the Airdrie Food Bank.
There were some awesome moments that helped cement Halloween as something spectacular for our creative and crazy ideas. One was creating a video and incorporating a radio booth for "ScAir 106.1" radio. Our local radio was kind enough to scare up some signage we could borrow!
Our favorite group of visitors was the family with three little girls, two of whom loved it and went around at least 5 times, giggling, squealing, shrieking and eyes bright with delight. We repeatedly heard comments of "how much we needed something fun". Even reflecting today, Easter Sunday 2023, my eyes tear up and I get a lump in my throat as I think about how much we needed it too.
