We cannot begin to thank Genesis Land enough for their support in purchasing the heaters and propane. They have added a delightful warmth on the best of days, and on colder days like Dec 15 through 17, they made a tremendous difference in the comfort of our volunteers and visitors!
We have enough door prizes thanks to our amazing sponsors: Brick Bin, Tahini's, Capital Trailers, Airdrie Safety Training, and Genesis Land for a door prize every day plus a grand prize and two runners-up! We were a bit behind given illness, but all winners so far have been contacted.
I thought I'd share a few special moments of the past week.
We had a family come through and bring us some treasures they thought we could use. Since it wasn't too busy when they came, I got their help and incorporated the treasures into the Eye Spy while they were here.
An older gentleman came with his wife and kids. He asked the usual questions about "the stuff", where the idea came from. His eyes twinkled with mischief and merriment as he said that "you'd have to be a complete nut bar to do this." My folks were visiting and in the tent, and my Mum agreed. He asked if she was a nut bar when she pipes up that the angels were the majority of her collection they just don't have the energy to put up anymore... "so she is just the bar, not the nuts." We all laughed, and I told him this event was evidence of living on purpose and how others came and gave/ shared generously because they saw something special in it. He agreed there is a certain magic in the tents and gave me a lovely hug.
We love it when folks who have shared their treasures come and do the Eye Spy, see, and then exclaim about where their treasures shared have been placed. Some are delicate and sweet and others, well, people may view as macabre... like the Tinkerbell head. But, if they knew the whole story... they would know it was a special treasure from a 5 yr old at Halloween that was placed in our Nightmare Before Christmas scene and carried forward into the vignette for Christmas. Then there are the neighbours who lent us their Nativity they haven't put up in years, but aren't ready to let go. They've brought several folks over to share and thank us for the joy it brings them to see it used.
On that reminder note of giving is receiving, I am going to finish off a few things and get ready for this evening.
See you soon!!
